“ We repeat what we don’t repair.” - Christine Langley- Obaugh

On the outside, you are the picture of success. But inside, you are deeply anxious and insecure. Despite being successful, hardworking, and seemingly happy, life is really hard for you. You constantly overthink and replay past conversations and situations over and over again in your head. You find yourself saying "yes" to people, when you really want to say "no" and get frustrated and resentful. There are deeply wounded parts of you that are in desperate need of nurturance and warmth.

Hi, I'm Devyn and I am honored to be a therapist with NewPoint of View Counseling, located in beautiful Ahwatukee Foothills, Arizona. I am independently licensed to provide counseling by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (C-DBT); I have advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR); I am working toward certification in Perinatal Mental Health. I am also a member of the Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for People of Color through Postpartum Support International.

As your therapist, I believe it’s important that I meet you where you are. My philosophy is that each person has the potential to live as the best version of themselves. I am here to help you find your way. With an emphasis on acute and developmental trauma, my scope of practice includes working with adults and families. Starting therapy is the first step to healing and creating the life you imagine for yourself. By using evidence-based approaches and interventions, I will help you move through the process of change and healing.

“There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds.” Laurell K. Hamilton

It takes strength and courage to face our fears and revisit past traumas, and address current issues within your relationships. I engage each client from a place of acceptance, non-judgment and with unconditional positive regard. I believe that my role is to hold a safe space for you as you process through your grief, loss, trauma, disappointments and hurt. While therapy will assist your growth, it can also be a painful process of self-discovery, and change is never easy.

I specialize in treating clients with anxiety, depression, complex trauma, interpersonal relationship issues, negative self-esteem and body image, and helping clients accept themselves in the moment. I believe that self-acceptance is a personal and sacred journey, which leads to improved relationships with others and with ourselves. We will master the art of setting healthy boundaries, develop interpersonal relationships that nurture our beings and improve our day to day function. I am understanding, patient and desire to be attuned to the uniqueness of each person. I enjoy working with all nationalities, sexual orientation, gender and religious affiliation.

My job is to help you heal, not to judge you. I will provide a supportive space that promotes trust, respect, healthy attachments with others, while you discover and heal the issues that have long held you back. Together we will master healthy skills and habits that will help you to live your best life; one filled with self-love and acceptance. I look forward to beginning this journey with you. Give me a call and we can get started; you deserve the best life you can create.
