“When you stand and share your story in an empowering way, your story will heal you and your story will heal somebody else.”

Iyanla Vanzant

Hello, my name is Shāna and I am a therapist with New Point of View Counseling, located in the Ahwatukee Foothills. I am licensed to provide counseling by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. I attended Arizona State University and received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University, Phoenix.

I am a compassionate and experienced therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate the complexities of trauma, relationship challenges, and emotional struggles. With a specialization in treating complex trauma, relationship distress, codependency, borderline personality disorder (BPD), childhood trauma, adult parent-child issues, parental alienation, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, divorce, separation, abandonment and LGBTQIA issues.  I offer a holistic approach to healing and growth.

I have advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Emotional Focused Couples Therapy and the Gottman Method for couples.  This allows me to provide tailored and evidence-based interventions to support clients on their healing journey.

“You Must Unlearn What You Have Learned.” Yoda

Drawing from my deep understanding of trauma and relationship dynamics, I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and strengthen their sense of self-worth and identify. I employ an empathetic and nurturing approach which I believe empowers my clients to heal from past wounds, build resilience, and cultivate healthier relationships.

Whether you are seeking support for past traumas, sexual orientation /identify issues, struggling with relationship difficulties, or navigating issues related to self-esteem, depression, anxiety, codependency, attachment difficulties or family dynamics, I am here to guide you towards greater self-awareness and emotional well-being.

As your therapist, I'm deeply committed to the importance of your mental health, placing it on par with the care we give our physical bodies. I employ humor and play in our sessions. I am a passionate Star Wars fan and believe in the wisdom of yoda. Two of my favorite Yoda quotes are; “The greatest teacher, failure is.” Reminding us that mistakes and failures are learning opportunities. In addition to “No. Try Not. Do…or do not. There is no Try.” Emphasizing the importance of commitment and action. Changing behaviors will require your consistent and persistent commitment to change by engaging in new skills learned in therapy. So….

Trust your decision to seek help. You are not alone, you are not damaged, you are not weak. I believe in meeting you exactly where you are, laying a solid groundwork from that starting point. You hold the expertise on your life and yourself, and my role is to accompany you on this journey, imparting knowledge, deeper insight and coping skills to equip you with the means to navigate daily challenges more effectively. My goal is to enhance the strengths you already possess, enriching your toolkit with additional resources. Together, we'll delve into issues that have been holding you back preventing you from achieving the life you crave.
